Frequently Asked Questions

How does Sugaring work?

Sugar paste is warmed to room temperature and then molded onto your skin against the direction of hair growth. The "molding" process wraps the sugar around the hair and then it is "flicked" off in the direction of hair growth. As it is flicked off, the paste extracts the hair and exfoliates your skin (an added bonus!)

How long does my hair need to be?

Great news! While traditional waxing needs at least 1/4" of hair grow out, Sugaring can extract much shorter hair! You just need 1/8" or 7 days of grow out after shaving.

Can I be Sugared while taking Accutane or Retin-A?

No, you must discontinue using Accutane for at least 6 months and discontinue using Retin-A for 1 month before you plan on being Sugared.

Can I sugar while I am on my period?

Absolutely! However, you may be a little bit more sensitive during this time.

Is it safe to Sugar during pregnancy?

Yes! It's safe to sugar during pregnancy. You may feel a bit more discomfort while you are pregnant.

What should I do to prepare for my first appointment?

If you have been shaving- Please allow 8-10 days of grow out prior to the appointment.
If you have been waxing- Please allow 3-4 weeks of grow out prior to the appointment.
If your hair is longer, Please trim your hair down to 1/4 of an inch in length. This will help with discomfort and make the process quicker.
Please do not exfoliate or tan 24 hours prior to the appointment. If you accidentally sunburn, we will not be able to sugar you.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

Please arrive 5 minutes early to fill out a short "Client Consultation" form. Your Sugarista will walk you through the Sugaring process during your service. We will also go over At-Home care after the appointment.

What should I do for at home care after my Sugaring service?

Please start exfoliating 72 hours after the appointment. We suggest using Exfoliating Body Gloves or Dry Brushing. These methods are the best way to slough off dry and dead skin cells to keep the hair follicles free and clear from blockage which will reduce Ingrown Hairs. Please hydrate by drinking plenty of water and moisturize daily. We will also go over with you "What not to do" immediately after your appointment.
